Why a rug shop, not a carpet truck
It comes up in almost every Parkland home we visit. The tile and wood floors already have a service on the calendar, and the good rug in the great room feels like it could ride along.
But a wall-to-wall carpet and a hand-knotted rug are built for opposite treatment. Carpet is stretched and glued down, meant to be scrubbed where it sits. A fine rug is a free-standing textile — wool or silk pile tied to a cotton foundation, colored with dyes that were never meant to bake under a hot extraction wand.
Clean a good rug in place and three things go wrong quietly: the sandy grit stays locked in the foundation, the dyes can creep, and the rug dries slowly against your tile. In Parkland’s summer humidity that slow, uneven drying is exactly how browning and a musty edge begin.
A rug that furnished a whole room deserves a proper bath, not a passing scrub.
So we take the older, slower route at our own Parkland plant: measured, tested, deep-dusted, washed with a natural pH shampoo, then speed-dried in a controlled room. Wool, silk, antique, Navajo, shag — the full process is laid out here.

Wool, silk & everything hand-knotted

Even so, every rug below moves through the same in-plant sequence: measured, pH and dye tested, deep-dusted, washed, and speed-dried.
Hand-knotted Orientals are textiles, not carpet. They earn a full bath in the plant — never a hot wand dragged across them on your lanai.

How we test →Wool is a protein fiber — the high-alkaline chemicals used on carpet leave it harsh and dull. Our shampoo stays in the pH range wool can take.

A full wet wash using a natural pH shampoo, chosen for the fiber and the dyes in front of us. Easy on delicate wool and silk, firm on the gritty soil a Parkland season grinds into the pile.
Then into our temperature- and humidity-managed drying room — a must in the Parkland climate. Quick, even drying is what keeps one color from creeping into its neighbor.

A machine-made 8×10 in good shape is a straightforward wash. The same size hand-knotted rug with unstable dyes, years of buried grit and a pet accident in one corner is a different job entirely.
What moves the price: the measured size, the fiber and construction, dye stability, how much soil is buried in it, any pet contamination (no rarity in a dog-loving town like Parkland), and whether the fringe or edges want repair.
So the inspection comes first and the quote follows it — once, before any work starts.

Straight answers
You never have to load a rug into your car. We run free pickup and delivery throughout Parkland — Heron Bay, Parkland Golf & Country Club, Pine Tree Estates, Cascata and the rest — plus nearby Coral Springs, Coconut Creek and Boca Raton. We come to your door, wrap the rug, and bring it back clean once the work is finished.
A hand-knotted rug is a loose textile, not carpet fixed to the floor. Cleaning it in place under a hot wand traps grit in the foundation, risks the dyes running, and leaves it drying slowly on your tile — which invites browning in Parkland’s humidity. It belongs in a wash pit, laid flat, rinsed until the water runs clear.
We test before we wash. Every rug gets a pre-inspection with a pH reading and a dye-stability check, because some older vegetable-dyed rugs will bleed if they meet water the wrong way. If yours is a bleed risk, we change the method — and we show you what we found before a drop of water touches it.
We price after we inspect, never before. Measured size, fiber, construction, dye stability, how much soil is buried in the pile, pet contamination and any repairs all change what a rug needs, so a phone number would only be a guess. When we collect the rug we examine it and give you the exact price before any cleaning starts.
Usually, yes. Urine dries into alkaline salts deep in the foundation, and spot-cleaning the surface never reaches them — so we submerge and flush the whole rug to dissolve them out. Old or repeated accidents can be stubborn, and we tell you honestly at inspection what result is realistic before you commit. More on pet odor removal.
Yes, and it is all done by hand at our own shop, never sent out. That covers fringe repair and replacement, side and edge overcasting, hole repair and reweaving, moth damage, dry rot, resizing and full restoration. If a repair would cost more than the rug is worth, we will tell you plainly rather than sell it.
Most rugs are back in about a week. Washing is followed by controlled speed-drying in a temperature and humidity managed room, which is what protects the colors from migrating — so we do not rush it. Rugs that also need hand repairs take a little longer, and you get an honest timeline at the inspection.
